The Living Environment

Green by Design
Woodbrook is a place where sympathetic design and careful planning have come together to create an appealing living environment. It is an example of successful sustainable development design which provides a primary school, Village Green, Village Square, playing fields, a new bus service to Lisburn and a network of footpaths to increase amenity and access to the surrounding area.
Greenery is vital. Where possible existing hedges have been retained and it is hoped that residents will respect and maintain them. Many mature trees have been retained and the layout of roads and houses shaped around them.
During the development thousands of carefully chosen indigenous trees and shrubs will be planted to produce an appealing landscape.
Throughout the development dry, semi dry and wetland environments have been designed into the green spaces to maximise bio-diversity. Streams have been protected and enhanced to secure the living environment. The wild life area to the south of approximately 2 acres has been specifically designed and secured to protect the existing wildlife a number of foraging routes have been created through the development.
The car does not take precedence at Woodbrook. The roads and footpaths are thoughtfully laid out to make journeys by foot both pleasant and practicable. The roads have been specifically designed this results in an uncluttered environment with an absence of road signage.
